The “Black Diamonds” EP from Demetrius has inspired several remixes since its release in July 2019, including Joyce Muniz, Tony Casanova and others. And now, Meriton takes everything to another level with his lyrical remix of “Speed of Life”. Meriton actually has a history of remixing Demetrius. Back in 2018, Meriton turned heads with a brilliant remix of “Toxic People” by Joyce Muniz, which featured Demetrius on vocals.
In this treatment of “Speed of Life”, Meriton perfectly captured the inspiration of the original to transcend ones self, let go and enjoy the journey of life. This melodic house groove has a slow build, allowing the soulful Demetrius vocal to carry the track, gradually adding more and more elements until it takes off from the drop.

“Listening to the original track, I recall thinking it was really well produced and already had very strong elements. So then hearing those beautiful vocals in solo I instantly felt this emotional, classic vocal house vibe. The vocals were the main driving force and I wanted to strip everything away and build a solid, straightforward, smooth groove with my choice of the best elements from the original track.”
About Meriton
It started in 1996 when Meriton came into contact with electronic music and DJing when he became inspired by the electronic underground of the 90s, the techno and house from Detroit and Chicago, as well as France’s house scene. Little by little he built up his studio, a collection of classic synthesizers and machines that shaped the course of electronic music, dealing intensively with each, understanding the various techniques that gave them a leading role in the history of electronic music.
And so Meriton has developed a unique sound that starts from the lineage and traditions of electronic music and brings it forward in a contemporary timelessness that does not remain stuck in the past, but with a fresh modern sound – that is Meriton.
With his first solo debut, the 4-Tracker EP Emergence (2013), on International Deejay Gigolo Records the name Meriton became known to a broader audience. Being already known to a smaller community from earlier releases on International Deejay Gigolo Records such as Tripsoul EP (2009), Nuclear Body (2012) and the remix for DJ Hell’s Wonderland (2012) – The Emergence EP (2013) earned international support from artists such as: Carl Craig, Boys Noize, DJ Hell, Laurent Garnier, Lee Burridge and many others.
Returning in a powerful way to the scene in 2018, with the remix of Toxic People by Joyce Muniz, earned him a place on a remix package side by side with the iconic DJ Hell. The remix earned support by international artists such as Agoria, Ame, Dave Clarke, Laurent Garnier, Marcel Dettmann and many others.
About Demetrius
Originally from New York, Demetrius’s repertoire serves up a soulful, retro take on electronica that perfectly marries his past and present. Reflecting the electronic mecca of his current hometown Berlin, as well as his Trinidadian roots with occasional subtle Caribbean inflexions, his material ranges from melancholic, introspective electronic pop to dramatic synth-driven house through to mystical, progressive house-meets-techno sounds. He has performed in everything from bands to operas, choirs and musicals as well as ghostwriting for others. He has also sung backup vocals for both Elton John and Alicia Keys, and performed and released for years as lead singer of electronic/alternative band Suntalk — recording at the legendary Electric Ladyland Studios in the process.
